MH

You can use the commands in the Section Obtaining Example Files From This Book to get the latest version of MH from the host ftp.ics.uci.edu in the directory /pub/mh. If you can get connected, you can also get MH in the directory /networking/mail/mh on the busy host ftp.uu.net -- and its mirror sites. In Europe, you can get a copy of MH from ftp.efd.lth.se in /pub/mail.

It's also available via email from the mail servers at mail-server@nluug.nl and archive-server@germany.eu.net; send a message with a body containing

send mail/mh/mh-6.8.tar.Z
Outside North America and Europe, check with your network or system administrator for best route to get MH on your continent -- the MH file is big; getting it from a site on another continent can be expensive and slow.

Depending on the site you're copying MH from, there can be several directories and files. There might be an update directory with copies of the latest enhancements and bug fixes. Look for a file named mh-6.8.tar.Z -- that's the MH 6.8.3 (or MH 6.8!) archive file. Copy it and any update files to your host. (The MH file is big: about 2 Megabytes compressed. As a courtesy to other network users, you should probably transfer it in the evening or overnight. Remember, that's overnight in the time zone of the archive site.)

You can also buy a 6250 BPI 9-track tape of MH, with a printed set of manuals, from the University of California, Irvine. Send a check for $75 U.S. currency (as of this printing), payable to Regents of University of California, to:

University of California at Irvine
Office of Academic Computing
Engineering Gateway E2130
Irvine, CA 92717 USA

Their phone number is +1-714-824-5153.
